Our Technology
Digital Radiography
Digital x-rays are the newest technology used in dentistry to take and archive dental x-rays. Digital x-rays significantly reduce the amount of radiation compared to traditional dental x-rays. This technique captures a digital picture of your teeth and supporting bone structures and stores the images directly on a computer in our Palatine office.
You and Dr. Liana Tremmel can instantly view your x-rays on screen and enlarge the image to help identify dental problems and gauge your overall dental health. Dr. Liana Tremmel uses this information to create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
Intra-Oral Camera
The intra-oral camera is a small video camera roughly the size of a pen that allows us to take detailed pictures of your teeth and surrounding tissue. The digital images are stored in our system and shared with you right in the treatment room, so you can see exactly what we see.
This tool invites patients to join us in the “co-diagnosis” of their own dental health. We can show you which fillings may be cracked or discolored, and give you a real dental tour of your own mouth. It is one of the most effective ways we have found to help patients understand what is happening and feel confident in their care decisions.
Nd:YAG Laser
An Nd:YAG (Neodymium-Doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet) dental laser uses a specific wavelength of light to safely cut and coagulate soft tissues. It is highly effective for treating gum disease (such as LANAP), decontaminating root canals, and performing precise gum surgeries with minimal pain, swelling, or bleeding.
Panoramic Imaging
A dental panoramic X-ray (or orthopantomogram) is a 2D extraoral imaging technique that captures the entire mouth—including teeth, upper and lower jaws, and surrounding structures—in a single, continuous image. It provides a broad overview ideal for orthodontic evaluations, wisdom teeth assessment, and implant planning.
